9R/De1 Competition winners

Congratulations to

2. Jason Lee 9A
3. Mohammed Abbas 9R 

for their achievements in the in-class Vocab Express competition.

Mark comprehensively took first place with an amazing score of 18,630 followed by Jason with 13,065 and Mohammed with 11,280. All three are the recipients of a £5 Amazon voucher.

The Vocab Express competition ran over 3 weeks ending on May 17th.

British Airways Language Flag Award takes off!

Gearing up for their GCSE German next year, six year 9 students have taken on the British Airways Language Flag Award challenge... over the next few weeks they will be preparing themselves to make pilot announcements and provide airport customer services in German.

Europa Centre 2015

Europa Centre Season 2015 has officially started.

Over the next 4 weeks 2 Yr 10 French groups and 2 Yr 10 German groups will head out to Hornchurch to put their languages skills to the test against native speakers at the indoor European town.

New language assistant joins Rutlish

Matthias Lechner has joined the MLF department at Rutlish until the end of this academic year and will be working as a language assistant. In Germany, Matthias is studying German and English in Tria, which is the oldest city in Germany. As part of his studies, he has to complete three months abroad, which is what has brought him to Rutlish. After university Matthias would like to become a teacher so working at Rutlish will be a great experience. His role is not to teach whole classes but to work with small groups to help students to improve their German including their pronunciation, sentence structure and vocabulary. He will also teach students about life in Germany and bring some German music, food and humour (that’s right) into lessons.

This will be a great opportunity for the boys studying German as well as for Mr Lechner.
